On May 30, 2023 at approximately 3:00 am Deputies with the Allegany County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 10000 block of New Hope Road, Frostburg, MD for a reported domestic assault. It was found that the suspect Mr. Alexander Thomas Carlyle Lyddane 22 y/o of Cumberland choked and assaulted the mother of his child and forced her into his vehicle and fled from the area.

Deputies were able to locate the vehicle with the assistance of witnesses, FSU Police Department, and Frostburg City Police Department. After making contact with the driver, he was placed under arrest. The victim of the incident was in the passenger seat. Allegany Department of Emergency services were called to respond and the victim was transported to UPMC  for injuries sustained during the incident.  

Mr. Lyddane was transported to the Allegany County Detention Center where he awaits his initial appearance.

Mr. Lyddane is being charged with the following charges.

Assault first degree

Assault second degree

False imprisonment

Kidnapping

Destruction of property

Drunken endangerment

Reckless Driving

Negligent Driving

Driving under the influence of alcohol

Driving while impaired by alcohol
