On Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at approximately 8:24 PM, an officer of the Cumberland Police Department was traveling out of UPMC parking lot when he observed Chad Izat running in the roundabout on Willowbrook Rd. Izat then ran into the roadway and in front of the officer’s vehicle. The officer stopped and contacted Izat. Izat began yelling and running around the officer’s vehicle. Izat’s actions caused traffic to redirect. Izat was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters. He was issued a criminal citation and released. Upon his release and in front of officers, Izat ran to the driver’s door of an unattended police K-9 cruiser and attempted to access it. Izat then fled on foot. Izat was able to be taken into custody after a brief foot pursuit. He was placed under arrest again and escorted to police headquarters. He was later transported to Central Booking. Izat was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center on a temporary commitment-recalcitrant.
