September 18th, 2024 by WCBC Radio

State Comptroller Brooke Lierman was in town last week and got some up close looks at the new Downtown Cumberland area, including the Rosenbaum building and Queen City Creamery.  She also got a glance inside the new location for D’Atri’s at the corner of Baltimore and George Streets.  Mayor Ray Morriss said the detail work on the new restaurant is impressive…

“I think you’ll be impressed with the artwork in the new D’Atri’s also. It looks like a fabulous layout, a great design. Some really good work being done there. I know Tim Gallagher is working on the bar area and he does excellent work. I think people will appreciate all that he’s done. The countertop on that bar is absolutely beautiful.”

Lierman also had her picture taken under the new mural at the Rosenbaum and Morriss says that it will be a gathering spot for tourists…

“It’s a spot for photos. It’s a spot for selfies. And I think it really encompasses all of the wonders of Cumberland. It has the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad, Emmanuel Church, it shows our churches. It shows all three of the high schools, Coney Island.”
