Democrat Wes Moore won the gubernatorial race on Tuesday to be the new governor of Maryland easily defeating Republican Dan Cox. A Maryland native Moore launched his bernatorial campaign in June 2021 with running mate Aruna Miller, a former state delegate who represented Maryland's 15th district for nine years. While winning overwhelmingly statewide, Western Maryland did not warm to Moore as he lost Allegany County to Cox by a 69-27 percent margin.
