Demand is so high for children's pain relievers and fever reducers that supplies are very low across Maryland. Supplies are short because demand is unprecedented, according to the Consumer Healthcare Products Association. This is the earliest the flu has peaked in more than a decade, and sales of the medications are up 65% over the same time last year.
WBAL News visited a series of large retail pharmacies across the state and could not find one bottle of liquid pain reliver or fever reducer in stock. What 11 News did find were empty shelves, out-of-stock signs and an apology.
