The project to reimagine the downtown area in Cumberland has not been without some problems. Many brand new bricks are chipped that have been or need to be replaced. And the plan’s designer left out a few ADA-compliant curbs causing finished work to be retrofitted. Mayor Ray Morriss says those areas are being fixed before next week’s grand opening…
“The reason it occurred was that what the contractor did was that at every place there was a pedestrian walkway which was supposed to be used, there was a handicap-accessible corner put in. But on a couple of the corners that aren’t necessarily at pedestrian walkways, we’re having them do them also.”
