Bringing back the vitality to downtown Cumberland has been the focus of city leaders for the past few years. Now, with the completion of the downtown reimagining, the city wants to turn its attention to another area in need of rebirth – South Cumberland. Mayor Ray Morriss tells WCBC that they will begin with the same programs that helped renew businesses in downtown…
“We want to do the same façade type grants that we did for downtown. We want to do that on Virginia Avenue to really bring a vibrancy back to the South End. That’s our second business district and I think it’s important that everyone understands that we’re moving on from the downtown to really revitalize our whole city.”
