The citizens of Cumberland should expect a gradual increase in parking enforcement throughout the city. The Cumberland Police Department (CPD) is strengthening its parking enforcement division by hiring additional parking enforcement officers and equipping them with vehicles. While residents may be accustomed to parking enforcement primarily in the downtown area, parking enforcement officers will soon expand their presence to other parts of the city.
These parking enforcement officers will supplement the duties of police officers and will be responsible for ensuring vehicles parked on public streets comply with safe parking practices. This includes paying the appropriate fees, adhering to time limits, avoiding handicap parking violations, and following other parking-related laws.
In recent years, maintaining parking compliance in the downtown area has been a priority for CPD. However, the department also receives numerous daily complaints about parking issues in other parts of the city and recognizes the need to address these concerns to ensure citywide compliance.
CPD is committed to making the community aware of this enhanced parking enforcement initiative and asks for your cooperation in adhering to all parking laws and ordinances.
