On Saturday, January 28th, 2023, The Cumberland City Police responded to the 900 block of Grand Ave for the report of a breaking and entering in progress. Upon arrival on scene, officers contacted a manager of the rental property. They advised officers that the property should be vacant due to a previous eviction but that there was currently a male subject inside. Officers then contacted the subject in question and identified him as Leonard Wayne Metzner, 56. During the investigation Metzner claimed to have permission to be at the property. It was also learned that Metzner had entered the home through an unsecured window. As a result, Metzner was placed under arrest and transported to Police Headquarters for processing.
At this time, Metzner was also served with two Criminal Summonses for incidents that occurred in recent weeks. It was first alleged that he broke into a residence in the 500 block of Linden St on January 14th and stole copper piping and other miscellaneous metal items. It was also alleged that on January 26th, Metzner stole downspouts off of a Centre St Church.
Metzner was taken before the District Court Commissioner for his Initial Appearance where he was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center. He is currently being held on $5,000 bond.

Charges: Burglary 4th Degree, Trespass-Posted Property, Theft $100-$1500, Theft less than $100 x2, Malicious Destruction of Property, Attempted Theft $100-$1500.
On Saturday, January 28th, 2023, the Cumberland City Police responded to a residence in the 100 block of Oldtown Rd for the report of a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers could hear subjects inside the residence yelling at one another. Contact was then made with the two occupants. During the investigation, It was learned that the occupants had been involved in an argument over domestic issues. The argument escalated and a physical altercation broke out between the two, resulting in visible injuries to one of the subjects. As a result, Shaquille J. Clinton, 29, of Cumberland MD, was placed under arrest and transported to Police Headquarters for processing. He was taken before the District Court Commissioner for his Initial Appearance where he was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center. He is currently being held on $5,000 bond.

On Saturday, January 28th, 2023, The Cumberland City Police responded to the 12000 block of Willowbrook Rd for the report of an assault. Upon arrival, officers made contact with multiple witnesses to the assault who advised they observed a male suspect assaulting a victim outside the facility. It was alleged that the suspect threw the victim to the ground and began to strike them repeatedly. The injuries from the assault required medical attention. As a result of the investigation, Nasair Adrean White, 21, of Cumberland MD, was placed under arrest for felony assault and transported to Police Headquarters for processing. He was taken before the District Court Commissioner for his Initial Appearance where he was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center. He is currently being held without bond.

On Saturday, January 28th, 2023, The Cumberland City Police responded to the 500 block of Warren St for the report of an assault. Upon arrival, officers contacted the subjects involved in the incident. It was learned that two subjects had initially been involved in an argument inside the home. The victim then exited the home, followed shortly thereafter by the suspect. It was then alleged that the suspect approached the victim with a knife and attempted to assault them and also slash the tires on the victim’s vehicle. As a result, Christina Marie Senn, 45, of Cumberland MD was placed under arrest and transported to Police Headquarters. She was then taken before the District Court Commissioner for her Initial Appearance where she was released on a $5,000 unsecured bond.

On August 27th, 2022 at approximately 6:00 pm officers of the Cumberland Police Department responded to the 200 block of Paca Street for a reported assault. Upon officer’s arrival they spoke with the victim who advised that Charles Robert Bauman II had assaulted them. The victim advised officers that Bauman had grabbed them by the arms, threw them to the ground, and strangled them. Officers observed evidence of the assault and placed Bauman under arrest. While officers placed Bauman under arrest he began yelling and creating a disturbance. Bauman was then taken before a District Court Commissioner where he was held without bond.
Arrest: Charles Robert Bauman II, age 51, Cumberland Maryland.
Charges: Assault First Degree, Assault Second Degree, Disorderly Conduct.
Trespassing Arrest
On August 27th, 2022 at approximately 7:00 pm officers of the Cumberland Police Department responded to the 900 block of Lexington Avenue for a reported trespassing complaint. Upon officer’s arrival they located John Jenkins III to be on a property that was clearly posted as no trespassing. Jenkins was issued a Criminal Citation and was released pending his trial at District Court.
Arrest: John William Jenkins III, age 50, Ridgley West Virginia
Charge: Trespassing.
Arrest Warrant Served
On August 27th, 2022 Officers of the Cumberland Police Department served an Arrest Warrant on Jeffrey Scott Ritchie. The Arrest Warrant was issued by the District Court stemming from an August 27th, 2022 destruction of property incident. During the incident officers responded to the 1000 block of East Oldtown Road where the victim advised that Ritchie had broken a window inside the residence and created a disturbance. Ritchie had left the area prior to officers’ arrival and an application for charges was completed resulting in this Arrest Warrant. Ritchie was taken before a District Court Commissioner where he was held on a $5,000 bond.
Arrest: Jeffrey Scott Ritchie, age 52, Cumberland Maryland.
Charges: Destruction of Property, Disturbing the Peace.
