The dynamics of the Cumberland City Council changed this week as political newcomer Jimmy Furstenberg will be replacing Joe George. It will be the third person to fill that council seat in a little more than a year as George was appointed to replace Seth Bernard who resigned in August of 2021. Incumbent Rock Cioni was the top vote getter Tuesday followed by Furstenberg with George finishing third and out of the running. Mayor Ray Morriss, who supported George in his campaign, tells WCBC News that the city has lost an outstanding public servant…
Ironically the situation was reversed somewhat last year, as Furstenberg was among ten candidates who submitted a letter of interest to fill Bernard’s vacant seat- only to miss out as the city council unanimously selected George for the post.
