Melinda Kelleher, Executive Director Downtown Development Commission provides this week's Cumberland Construction Update.
Concrete road base on Baltimore Street up to George Street is done. Sidewalk pavers on North Liberty should be done next week. Granite on the waterfall spillway and side pieces are done and more work is being done next week for the cap on top of the waterfall. Trees will all be in over the next week except for two that will go up by George Street. They are back-ordered and won’t be here until fall.
As a reminder, even though the streets may appear to be open they are not. Every street is a construction zone and no one should be driving on the streets unless they have special permission from the DDC office. Some of the businesses have asked to pull up to their business to load and unload for catering and vending events and that is fine as long as the time on the roads is limited. Please understand that the warranty on the bricks begins when we open the streets and vehicles begin to drive on them. We want to limit that before the final inspection is done and the streets are officially open.

Melinda Kelleher, Executive Director Downtown Development Commission says all Silva cells for the project are now installed. Street pavers were started on South Liberty Street (because they needed to adjust a few things on North Liberty). Next week underground work for the project will be complete (electric and fiber are all that is left), Paver installation continues on Liberty and Concrete work starts onCentre. Wall restoration on the Mechanic St side of the CBIZ building will begin Monday.
