The Cumberland City Police Department would like to remind motorists that city schools are now back in session. With that, a large portion of school aged children in the city of Cumberland do walk to and from school on a daily basis. Motorists need to beware of the posted speed zones around each school and be alert and reduce speed when necessary. Motorists should also be aware of crosswalks and yield to pedestrians in the crosswalks. It is important that drivers pay special attention to children walking to school as they may sometimes abruptly enter the roadway. Thank you for doing your part to help keep our children safe.
