Crowdstrike/Microsoft Outage Affects Maryland Courts

July 22nd, 2024 by WCBC Radio

Friday morning, many computer users woke to the ominous “blue screen of death” on their computers, unable to access them.

An update glitch caused computers around the globe to freeze, affecting airlines, hospitals, and other lines of business.

The Maryland courts system shut down just before 11am Friday but remained open for emergency matters.  The county’s 911 system, Allegany County government and Cumberland City government offices were unaffected.

UPMC reported intermittent issues but those did not affect patient care.
