September 18th, 2024 by WCBC Radio

On Tuesday, September 17th, 2024, The Cumberland Police Department responded to a business in the 900 block of Oldtown Rd for a shoplifting complaint. Once on scene, officers located the female suspect, Brittany Skye McDonald, 31, of Cumberland MD. She was subsequently issued a Criminal Citation for theft, less than $100. At this time, it was discovered that McDonald also had an active warrant for her arrest as well as an unserved Criminal Summons. The Criminal Summons for McDonald was issued for a theft incident that occurred on August 14th. During this incident, it is alleged that McDonald stole approx. $1800 worth of items from a residence in the 600 block of Hill St. McDonald then pawned the items at a local pawn shop. The Arrest Warrant on McDonald was issued as a result of an investigation that originated on August 27th at a residence in the 400 block of Grand Ave. On that night, it is alleged that McDonald assaulted a female victim and then fled to a nearby home. When officers contacted McDonald regarding the assault, she was found to be in a highly intoxicated state and unable to care for herself or for the child for which she was responsible for at the time. As a result, McDonald was transported to a nearby medical facility for treatment and a warrant was issued for her arrest. On this date, McDonald was taken before a District Court Commissioner for an Initial Appearance where she was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center. She is currently being held on $5,000 bond.
