Criminal Summons/Bench Warrant Served

On Wednesday, August 21, 2024, the Cumberland Police Department served a Criminal Summons on Aaron Racic. The Allegany County District Court issued the summons for an incident that occurred on June 18, 2024. During the investigation, Officers learned that Racic threw a knife threw the window of a building in the 100 Block of North Centre Street causing it to shatter. Racic was served with the summons and released pending his trial at District Court.

Arrest: Aaron Josip Racic, age 40, Cumberland, Maryland.
Charges: Malicious Destruction of Property, Disorderly Conduct.

Adult Arrest: On Wednesday, August 21, 2024, the Cumberland Police Department served a Bench Warrant on Tavante Jones. The Allegany County Circuit Court issued the Warrant for violating the terms of his parole. Jones was taken to the Allegany County Detention Center where he was held without bond.

Arrest: Tavante Ernest Jones, age 27, Cumberland, Maryland.

BENCH WARRANT SERVED
On Wednesday, October 18, 2023, the Cumberland Police Department served a bench warrant on Mark Wharton.  The warrant was issued as the result of Wharton failing to comply with conditions of pre-trial release.  He was originally charged with Assault-First Degree and Assault-Second Degree.  Wharton was arrested and later seen by a District Court Commissioner for a bond hearing.  He was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center without bond.

CRIMINAL SUMMONS SERVED
On Wednesday, October 18, 2023, the Cumberland Police Department served a criminal summons on Thomas Taccino.  The summons was issued in connection with an incident that was reported on September 6, 2023.  On this date, an officer of the Cumberland Police Department responded to a business in the 700 block of N. Centre Street for a theft.  The alleged victim reported that on September 1, 2023 at approximately 3:40 PM, a vehicle pulled up to his gate and a male suspect exited the vehicle.  The suspect then loaded items belonging to the victim into the vehicle’s trunk and left the area.  After further investigation, the suspect was identified as Thomas Taccino.    Police filed for charges against Taccino at the District Court of Allegany County.  Taccino signed for his copy of the summons and he was released pending trial.

CHARGES:  Burglary-4th Degree Theft, Theft $100 to Under $1500
