On Monday, June 12th, 2023, The Cumberland City Police served a Criminal Summons on Preston Ernest McLaughlin, 70, of Cumberland MD. The summons was in reference to an incident that occurred on June 11th, in the area of Queen City Drive. During that incident, it is alleged that McLaughlin was observed kicking a dog owned by him who had gotten off a leash. It is also alleged that he then assaulted a female subject who was attempting to help him secure his loose dog. McLaughlin was served the summons and released, pending trial in District Court.

Charges: Assault 2nd Degree, Disorderly Conduct, Animal Cruelty.

On December 13th, 2022, The Cumberland City Police served a Criminal Summons on Brandy Alisea Walker, 35, of Cumberland MD. The summons was in reference to an incident that occurred on October 18th, 2022. During the incident, Walker contacted the Cumberland Police to report a hit and run that had occurred with her vehicle while it was not occupied. She advised that the front end of her vehicle had been struck while parked in the area of Frederick St and that she had discovered the damage later in the day. However, on the same date, another hit and run had been reported in the area of N. Centre St where an unoccupied vehicle had been struck in the rear end. Officer’s were able to conclude that Walker had struck the parked vehicle on N. Centre St and fled the scene. She then contacted the police to file a false police report. As a result, she was issued the summons and released, pending trial in District Court.

Charges: Obstructing and Hindering, False Statement to Officer, Negligent Driving, Giving False Accident Report Info,
Failure of driver to stop after unattended vehicle damage accident, Failure of driver to notify owner in unattended vehicle damage accident, Failure of driver to furnish required ID info.
***Criminal Summons Service***
On December 13th, 2022, The Cumberland City Police served a Criminal Summons on Steven Joshua Self, 37, of Cumberland Md. The summons was in reference to an incident that also occurred on December 13th at a residence in the 800 block of Maplewood Lane. During the incident, Cumberland Police responded to the residence for a well being check on Self. While on scene, Self attempted to assault other subjects in the home. When the officer, intervened, Self then began to assault the officer. Self was able to be detained and was transported to a local medical facility for evaluation. As a result, a summons was issued for the incident. Self was then served and released, pending trial in District Court.
