The Allegany County Commissioners announced Friday that six Emergency Medical Services crewmembers would be laid off in their ongoing attempts to close a two million dollar budget shortfall. Other changes announced include shift changes at two stations and updates to staffing procedures. The union for EMS employees issued a statement Friday saying they strongly oppose the decision and are calling on the county commissioners to revisit the measures being taken and find a solution that protects both EMS professionals and their communities.
