The Allegany County Commissioners welcomed the recently appointed Director of Rural Economic Strategy at Thursday’s public meeting. Carl Anderton was appointed by Governor Moore and will serve as the principal adviser on rural economic development and spearhead strategies on expanding economic growth in rural communities, with a priority focus on Western Maryland, Southern Maryland, and the Eastern Shore. Anderton told the commissioners his plan is to be in the area every six weeks and has already met with business and economic development leaders…
“The goal is to be out here, to listen to you, to learn, to find out what the state does well, what the state can do better, and how the state can get out of the way so you can grow and thrive and establish an economic base for the folks here in Allegany so they can live the quality of life they deserve.”
