County Budget Status

Allegany County’s fiscal year 2025 budget is still struggling, according to the latest status report.  The County Commissioners met last week to look at county budget.  The county started the fiscal year with a $283,000 gap that has now grown to over $3 million. An ongoing issue has been overtime in Emergency Services that is $760,000 over budget. Interim Emergency Management Director Roger Bennett says the county now has employees who fill in needed shifts, saving some money…

“The more floaters that we have, the less we have to pay in overtime and double-time and a half. I think that should be our goal, to try and eliminate that.”
