A fire at a two-story duplex in Lonaconing is being investigated by the Maryland State Fire Marshal. Just after 8:30pm Wednesday night, firefighters from the Goodwill Fire Company responded to Church Street to a blaze that displaced two families. Extreme weather temperatures hampered suppression efforts. Preliminary investigation shows the fire started in an upstairs bedroom. Two people were treated at the scene for minor injuries. The American Red Cross is assisting the families.
