Comptroller Franchot will spend Thursday afternoon in Western Maryland, beginning at Buttercup Boutique in Cumberland, where he will continue his annual Shop Maryland for the Holidays Tour and present owner Marcy Dearcangelis with a proclamation to recognize the store's success. The statewide tour is hosted by the Comptroller along with the Maryland Retailers Association to encourage Marylanders to shop locally instead of shopping online or at out-of-state businesses.
On his next stop, the Comptroller will visit Olympia Candy Kitchen in Hagerstown where he will present a proclamation to owner Tony Pananes in recognition of the shop's 115 years of business, including 30-plus at its Hagerstown location.
Mr. Franchot will then travel to Frederick where he will visit La Nice Boutique, which specializes in gifts, home decor and women's accessories. There, he will present a proclamation to owner Veronica Burnside in recognition of the business' success.
