The Allegany County Board of Commissioners received some strong criticism last week with a number of citizens, via emails, accusing county officials of not taking a more proactive leadership role in addressing the recent surge in COVID-19 cases. The letters, read into the record during the county business meeting, blasted members for not implementing tighter restrictions, not enforcing the restrictions that are in place, and setting a poor example by being seen on many occasions at events not wearing masks. Commissioners President Jake Shade, pointing to the COVID testing site recently opened as well as to the rapid distribution of grant funds to assist struggling businesses, said this is no time to be divisive…
