WCBC was very involved with the continuing story on the Federal Railroad Administration ordering the replacement of cross ties along the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad from Cumberland to Frostburg. Allegany County owns the rails and would be heavily involved in decisions to replace the ties. Western Maryland Superintendent and CEO John Garner told Norman that the number of ties needing replacement is about 12,000 at a cost of $2.5 million.
