This week the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit upheld Maryland’s assault weapons ban. The ban was enacted in 2013 following the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut. The ban affects dozens of firearms, including the AK-47 and the Barrett .50-caliber sniper rifle, and it places a 10-round limit on gun magazines. The non-profit Firearms Policy Coalition said it will immediately take the case to the U.S. Supreme Court, calling the decision “flawed.”
