Two new Cumberland City Police officers were introduced at Tuesday’s Mayor and Council public meeting. They received the oath of office from Councilwoman Lauri Marchini. Police Captain James Burt welcomed new patrol Officers Amanda Flanagan and Logan Talley, saying they are much needed on the force right now…
“We’re really proud to have Amanda and Logan, especially at this time. We’re going through a little bit of a situation with some of our younger officers wanting to leave. And we ask a lot of our police officers, we’re fully accredited. It takes a lot to come work for us because we have things we have to do, unlike our competitors – sometimes they don’t do what we do. We have young people that just wanted to leave – under contract, only a year on the streets because their reason was they wanted to leave because they’re going to get paid the same and do a whole lot less.”
