The City of Cumberland invites participation in the first annual Citizens Local Government Academy. This program will provide opportunities to local residents to learn more about the town government and how it operates by attending a variety of sessions and other activities. The Citizens Local Government Academy includes a 7-week class schedule, one class per week, and each class is expected to run for two hours. The program seeks to provide residents an overview of the departmental operation, benefits to the residents, and a facility tour.
Starting September 19, 2024, join us every Thursday from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at various city facilities. The sessions will run for seven weeks, leading up to the final session and graduation from the program on October 31, 2024.
The sessions are scheduled as follows:
1. 09/19/24 – Mayor/City Council, City Administrator and Administrative Services
2. 09/26/24 – Public Works and Utilities
3. 10/03/24 – Community Development and Planning and Zoning
4. 10/10/24 – Historic Preservation, Downtown Development Commission, and Economic Development (CEDC)
5. 10/17/24 – Public Safety
6. 10/24/24 – Engineering/Plants and Recreation
7. 10/31/24 – Boards and Commissions and Graduation
