On Saturday, Cumberland Police served an arrest warrant on Philip Andrew Pietro, age 27 of Cumberland MD. The warrant charged Pietro with Home Invasion, Robbery, Second Degree Assault, Third Degree Burglary, Fourth Degree Burglary, Trespass of Private Property, Theft less than $100, Malicious Destruction of Property, and Disorderly Conduct.
The warrant was a result of an investigation by the Cumberland Police on January 28th, 2022. Officers responded to a residence on the 200 block of Valley St for a report of Pietro trying to break the front door of the residence to gain entry. When they arrived on scene they contacted the male victim who advised that Pietro had forced his way into the residence and demanded money. When the victim refused, Pietro assaulted him and threw his phone, in an attempt to prevent him from calling the police. The male victim forced Pietro back outside and contacted the police. Once outside Pietro threw lawn furniture and other items into the roadway and then attempted to gain entry a second time.
Pietro was taken to the hospital for medical treatment and charges were filed. Following his arrest he was taken before the District Court Commissioner for his initial appearance. Pietro is being held without bond at the Allegany County Detention Center.
