On July 29th, 2021 officers of the Cumberland Police Department responded to the 100 block of Independence Street for a reported robbery, where the victim provided the location of the suspect. Officers arrived on scene and located Christopher Scott Cook where the victim had advised. Officers then spoke with the victim who advised that Cook had approached them and demanded money. When the victim did not comply, Cook struck them in the face with a rock and threatened them with a bladed weapon. Officers were able to locate evidence that corroborated the victim’s statements, and Cook’s involvement in the robbery. Cook was placed under arrest and was taken before a District Court Commissioner where he was held without bond.
Arrest: Christopher Scott Cook, age 24, Cumberland Maryland.
Charges: Armed Robbery, Robbery Assault 1st Degree, Assault 2nd Degree, Wear and Carry a Dangerous Weapon.

On April 25, 2021, The Cumberland Police Department served an Arrest Warrant on Michael Thomas Sharon, 38 of Cumberland, MD.
On April 16, 2021, The Cumberland Police Department responded to the 600 block of Lincoln Street for a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers began to investigate the incident and obtained information from the victim that Sharon had entered the residence and attempted to steal a purse. Sharon and the victim began to struggle over the purse and Sharon was able to obtain a sum of currency from the purse. The victim then attempted to contact police before Sharon was able to obtain the victim’s cellphone. The victim told officers that a struggle ensued over the possession of the cellphone. It was explained to officers that during the struggle, Sharon pinned the victim against the wall and began choking the victim before he exited the residence in possession of the cellphone and the sum of currency.
Sharon was served with the arrest warrant and transported to the Cumberland Police Department. While at the Cumberland Police Department, it was learned that Sharon had an additional Arrest Warrant issued by the Circuit Court of Allegany County for Violation Probation on an original charge of Possession not Marijuana.
Sharon was taken to the District Court Commissioner for his initial appearance. Sharon was then remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center, held without bond.
