On Saturday, November 9, 2024, the Cumberland Police Department served an arrest warrant on Mikara Humbertson. The warrant was issued as the result of an incident that occurred on November 5, 2024 at approximately 7:54 PM when officers responded to a residence in the 100 block of E. First Street for a child abuse complaint. Police contacted a resident who advised that Mikara Humbertson had placed a pillow over an infant’s head. The Cumberland Fire Department responded to evaluate the victim. Humbertson was transported to the hospital for an evaluation. After further investigation, police filed for charges against Humbertson at the District Court of Allegany County. The Combined County Criminal Investigation (C3I) Unit assisted the Cumberland Police Department with the investigation. Humbertson was arrested and later seen by a District Court Commissioner for a bond hearing. At the conclusion, Humbertson was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center without bond.
