The popular “Christmas In Maryland” program will be rebroadcast on WCBC 1270AM and 103.1FM on New Year’s morning between 6 and 10am. The show takes listeners on a Christmas vacation of sorts across the state of Maryland. Show producer John Patti, said that one feature shows how Maryland pilots help Tangier Island in neighboring Virginia celebrate the holiday…
“Pilots from Maryland and Pennsylvania will fly there, every December, only to deliver holly. Because – who knew? You can’t grow holly on Tangier Island. So they’ll fly in a maybe dozen or so little single-engine planes. They’ll land at the airport. They’ll deliver the holly. There’s a ceremony with the mayor and then they go to a restaurant and they have soft-shell crab sandwiches in December.”
