The City of Cumberland’s latest attack on blighted properties is focused on Central Avenue. The line of older houses that greets visitors to the city is being acquired for demolition. Once they are down, Mayor Ray Morriss says it will be land that a developer would be interested in…
“That would be a future area for some type of townhouses and things like that. If you drive through Morgantown and you’re on Interstate 68 and you look off to the left, you’ll see townhouses right off the interstate, and we believe that might be a good location for that or whatever kind of housing the developer might think. That’s where we’re headed right now but we’ll see what comes to fruition in the future.”
