Several updates were shared at Tuesday’s meeting of the Cumberland Economic Development Commission. Director Matt Miller spoke on different items including a marketing initiative, plans around the grand reopening of the downtown area, and progress on business façade projects. Also on the agenda was an update on the tract of land along Messick Road that the CEDC has held since 2022. Miller said some site work has taken place recently on the land to get it ready for development…
“So Western Maryland Lumber has finished clearing the selected timber from the property along Messick Road. In doing so, they created a rough access road that can be used to view the site to begin documenting progress. Additionally, we plan to obtain drone footage of the site to use for promotional marketing purposes when the time is appropriate to solicit potential tenants.”
