Although the executive director of the Union Rescue Mission said this week that talks with the Cumberland Economic Development Corporation about finding a new location for the local homeless shelter had broken off- city officials aren’t yet ready to move on from the project. Discussions about moving from the current Queen City Pavement location in order to expand services began in 2019- however Mission director David Ziler told WCBC News that no adequate alternatives had been presented and the two sides hadn’t had any substantive talks in more than a year.
