Cardin Says Soon For Vote on Bridge Funding

August 26th, 2024 by WCBC Radio

Maryland Senator Ben Cardin said he expects a vote on funding for a new Francis Scott Key Bridge in the next month, as lawmakers consider a continuing resolution to keep the federal government operating past September 30th.

The cost of new bridge is estimated at $1.9 billion dollars. Cardin said funding for the bridge is tied to funding for other bridge projects around the country. Congress will be back in session after Labor Day with only three weeks to pass the legislation needed.
