Maryland’s Retiring U.S. Senator Ben Cardin has added his name to a long list of citizens and legislators opposed to the Piedmont Reliability Project. The 500,000 watt electricity transmission line proposes construction across 70 miles of land through Baltimore, Carroll, and Frederick Counties. Cardin wrote letters of concern to the Maryland Public Service Commission and Governor Wes Moore saying the proposed route would have a negative impact on rural communities, farms, and businesses as well as overburden the already taxed electric grid and ratepayers.
