Comptroller Brooke Lierman announced that Maryland collected more than $18 million dollars in adult-use cannabis sales tax revenue in the third quarter of 2024. The total shows an 18% decline in collections from the previous quarter that ended in June. The Western Region that includes Allegany County, collected $2.7 million dollars in revenue, the third highest in the state. Monies from the tax revenue are returned in part to the counties for community reinvestment as well as statewide public health and cannabis business assistance funding.
