Maryland is a state with tens of thousands of federal government employees and cuts of those jobs by the Trump Administration have had a huge impact. The state’s elected officials in Washington and Annapolis have raised concerns and protested vigorously over the cuts. House Minority Leader Jason Buckel says that such passion would have been welcomed when Western Maryland suffered severe job losses…

   

“I said in multiple debates this year I wish we had been so concerned about the 700 and some folks that lost their jobs at the Verso Paper Mill. I wish we had been so concerned about the 300 and some folks who lost their jobs or had to relocate when Hunter Douglas closed down. I wish we cared as much about folks who lost their jobs from private sector decisions, a lot of which are influenced by government policies.”
