Without some notable attractions coming to fruition in the near future- Delegate Jason Buckel told local business leaders this month he has doubts as to whether Allegany County has what it takes to a develop into a major tourism destination point moving forward. One potential game changer could be the proposed River Park at Canal Place, to be located behind the Western Maryland Railway Station. The attraction is expected to feature walking trails, parking, kayak and canoe docks, a spectator viewing area and a whitewater course in the North Branch of the Potomac River- however progress has been slow. Buckel said the bottom line is that there simply aren’t enough marketable attractions currently to draw people large masses of people to the region…
