October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the Allegany County Health Department is continuing to offer breast and cervical cancer screenings. Ellie Folk is the Director of Cancer Programs at the health department and she told WCBC News that breast cancer screenings should begin at age 40 and cervical cancer screenings begin at age 21. Folk added that certain financial criteria must be met to qualify for free screenings and interested women should simply call the health department.
