A contentious meeting of the Allegany County Board of Education last week saw the board members split on whether or not to discuss revisiting the school calendar. Many teachers, administrators and students have advocated for retaining each Friday for virtual learning through the end of this final semester. Re-evaluating the school calendar was never considered during the session as the majority board rejected a motion by Tammy Fraley to discuss the issue. Fraley, who noted that the board agreed at it’s March meeting to re-evaluate, joined WCBC’s “Dave Norman Show” Friday. While many support using Friday as a virtual day- she said that she had not reached any conclusions as she hoped to received additional input prior to voting on any action.
