BOE Member Fraley Discusses State BOE Opposition to Repeating 2020-21 School Grade

A Maryland House bill would make it possible for parents worried about learning loss to hold their children back a grade. The bill would allow students to repeat the grade they took in the 2020-2021 school year. The Education Recovery Act would apply to those students who have been struggling with virtual learning and those with special learning needs and considered the most vulnerable. Tammy Fraley, President of the Maryland Association of  Boards of Education, tells WCBC News that MABE opposes the legislation because it doesn’t provide the option for all parents or guardians…

 

Meanwhile, the Maryland State Board of Education on Tuesday unanimously endorsed the state superintendent's plan to have students take standardized tests from home this spring.
