For the first time in six years Bishop Walsh boys basketball will be returning to a local schedule with local players. Senior Rodion Horbasenko has stayed at Bishop Walsh and is the lone holdover from the international players of recent years. The Spartans open their season in the Broadfording Tournament in Hagerstown Monday evening. Junior David DiNola told WCBC Sports Friday night that 12-13 players are on the squad. The coach is Ryan Mattingly. Mattingly coached the middle school team last year and is the son of former BW standout Regis Mattingly and grandson of longtime Saints Peter and Paul coach Bob Mattingly.
