Maryland’s Democratic Congressional representatives have introduced a bill to remove the statue of Confederate General Robert E. Lee from the Antietam National Battlefield. A similar attempt in 2020 failed. Trone said he wants to ensure Antietam honors “our nation’s victory over the Confederacy rather than memorialize historical figures who fought to break up the Union and restrict fundamental human rights.” Congressman Jamie Raskin said it was “time to stop honoring Confederate traitors to the Union.”
