Bel Air Water Issues Brought To Attorney General

March 4th, 2025 by WCBC Radio

Bel Air residents are investigating all avenues for relief from high water bills they pay through Maryland Water Service. The company provides water for Bel Air, Glen Oaks, and Pinto. Water rates typically run three to four times higher than other parts of Allegany County. Senator Mike McKay met with residents and has sent a letter to the state Attorney General’s office to elevate the investigation of citizen complaints. Bel Air resident Ronda Muir says she is concerned for older residents in the area…

“What I’m afraid of, and I mean it is a reality, is we have elderly people up here and I don’t want them to be afraid to flush a toilet or wear dirty clothes.  You know, there’s people up here who take their clothes to a laundromat, because it’s cheaper.”
