On Tuesday, August 22nd, 2023, The Cumberland City Police responded to the 100 block of Baltimore St for the report of an assault. Upon arrival, officers contacted the victim of the alleged assault. The victim advised officers that they were walking in the area with a male subject when an argument had initiated over wanting to go home. The argument escalated and the male subject began to assault the victim, throwing them to the ground and punching them. The victim advised they were able to escape from the male and had a passerby call 911 for help. The male subject then fled the area on foot. Officers searched the area and were able to locate the suspect walking nearby. Michael James Connolly, 38, of Pittsburgh PA, was then placed under arrest. Connolly was taken to Central Booking at the Allegany County Detention Center where he awaits his Initial Appearance with the District Court Commissioner.

Charges: Assault 1st Degree, Assault 2nd Degree.

On April 12th, 2023 at approximately 12:39 pm officers of the Cumberland Police Department responded to the 200 block of Baltimore Street for a reported assault. Upon officer’s arrival they spoke with the victim who advised that Shawn Gladden had assaulted them, and was not to be at the residence by an order of the District Court due to a previous assault investigation. Gladden was placed under arrest and taken before a District Court Commissioner where he was held without bond.
Arrest: Shawn Lamr Gladden, age 40, Cumberland Maryland.
Charges: Assault Second Degree, Two Counts of Violation of Pre-Trial Release Conditions
