Allegany County High School Senior and Track and Field athlete Avery Miller received a Certificate of Recognition at Tuesday’s Cumberland Mayor and City Council Open Session meeting. Miller has won two Track and Field State Championships, two National Championships, and she has had scholarship offers from SMU and NC State. Mayor Ray Morris and the council congratulated Miller for being the first female in 52 years to win the maximum four Track and Field events two years in a row at the state level…
"In recognition of her winning a second straight state championship title and for being the first female in 52 years to win the maximum four events twice for the 100 meter 200 meter 400 meter and long jump and also in recognition of her capturing the AAU Junior Olympics National championship and taking first place in the triathlon at the New Balance match."
