Deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling Westbound on Interstate 68 , near the 58 mile marker Sunday nght. The operator failed to yield to deputies and attempted to flee and elude law enforcement at high rates of speed, and in a reckless manner. The vehicle continued into Cumberland city and lost control of the vehicle in the area of Wallace Street and wrecked into a wooded area. The suspect later identified as Daries Raheem Legette, 30 years old, of Baltimore MD fled from the vehicle to the Allegany Trail. Deputies were able to locate Legette and place him under arrest without further incident and charged with the following.

-Obstructing & Hindering
-Resisting Arrest
-Operating a motor vehicle without a license
-Fleeing and Eluding Law Enforcement
-Multiple additional traffic charges

No injuries were sustained by the suspect, public, or law enforcement, during this incident.

Legette is currently being held at the Allegany County Detention Center while he awaits his initial appearance at District Court.
