On Saturday, November 2nd, 2024, the Cumberland Police Department responded to a residence in the 500 block of Essex Place for the report of an assault. Upon arrival on the scene, officers contacted the victim of the alleged assault, who had visible injuries to the face. They advised that an argument had broken out in the home with the suspect regarding a purse. During the argument, the suspect punched the victim in the face. Officers then contacted the suspect who admitted to striking the victim during the altercation. As a result, Janell Marie Coffman, 35, of Cumberland MD, was placed under arrest. She was taken before a District Court Commissioner for her Initial Appearance where she was released on a $2,500 unsecured bond.
