On Saturday, September 14, 2024, the Cumberland Police Department served an arrest warrant on Joshua Hill. The warrant was issued as the result of an incident that occurred on September 10, 2024. On this date at approximately 5:34 PM, officers responded to the 100 block of Humbird Street for a check on well-being. Officers arrived and received information that Joshua Hill had left a residence with a firearm. While investigating the complaint, police received another call for the report of shots fired in the area of E. Roberts Street. Officers responded to the area and located Hill’s vehicle. Officers observed a handgun case inside the vehicle. Additional officers arrived and observed Hill walking along the canal. Hill was detained and questioned. However, police were unable to locate a firearm. Hill was released from the scene. Hill was then arrested later that evening as the result of another incident that occurred on Humbird Street. On September 11, 2024, the Cumberland Police Department, with the assistance of the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services K-9 Unit, located a handgun in the area of E. Roberts Street. Through further investigation, police were able to link the handgun to Hill. It was learned that Hill is prohibited from possessing firearms and ammunition. Police filed for charges against Hill at the District Court of Allegany County. Hill was arrested and transported to Central Booking. He was later seen by a District Court Commissioner and remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center without bond.
