ARREST WARRANT & CRIMINAL SUMMONSES SERVED

On Sunday, September 3, 2023, the Cumberland Police Department served two criminal summonses and an arrest warrant on Mark F. Smith Sr.  One summons was issued as the result of an incident that occurred on August 27, 2023.  The alleged victim reported that her electric scooter had been stolen.  Through investigation, suspects were developed and one was identified as Mark Smith Sr.  Police filed for charges against Smith at District Court.  The second summons was issued as the result of an incident that occurred on August 26, 2023.  The alleged victim reported that his residence in the 700 block of Lincoln Street had been burglarized.  One of the suspects was identified as Mark Smith Sr.  Police filed for charges against Smith at District Court.  The arrest warrant was issued as the result of an incident that occurred on September 3, 2023 when police were dispatched to the 200 block of S. Central Avenue for a disturbance.  The subject causing the disturbance was identified as Mark Smith Sr.  When officers went to place Smith under arrest, he resisted and assaulted one of the officers.  Charges were filed against Smith.  He was arrested and transported to Central Booking.  He was later seen by a District Court Commissioner and posted a $3,000 unsecured personal bond.
